About Scott W. Hartman
Scott W. Hartman is the Founder and President of Advantage Business Brokers LLC, as well as a lifelong entrepreneur, philanthropist, and businessman. Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, and with eight offices around the country, Scott has, to date, led or co-led the acquisition of over 40 businesses, offers sell side representation to companies of all sizes, offers strategic and operational consulting and helps companies raise growth capital (debt and equity). One of his most notable successes was the acquisition, IPO and subsequent sale of Hawker Pacific Aerospace as it’s Chairman of the Board.
Over the course of his career, Scott has been Chairman of the Board of publicly held companies, a CEO or Managing Partner of public and private companies, and a Board Member of public and privately held companies. He has also acted as a private equity investor, consultant and strategist. He has held management positions in sales, marketing, manufacturing, distribution and strategic planning in numerous types and sizes of companies.
A career in entrepreneurship seemed to always be in the works for Scott W. Hartman. His mother claimed that he was entrepreneurial even at a very young age. At only nine years old, he started his first “business” and was able to organize the kids on the block for a lawn care business, giving them a cut of his profits for their help. Scott has always loved the challenge and puzzle of taking something and figuring out how to make it better, and he applied such principles to every facet of his life.
Scott Hartman obtained a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Indiana University. Following his graduation, he accepted a position at a well-known and influential company, Emerson Electric (NYSE) that he knew would give him the breadth of experience he needed to one day run his own business.
Scott, at 30 years old, pulled the trigger and decided to start his own business. He funded his first company by selling everything he owned and borrowing the rest on credit cards and anywhere else that would lend him the money needed to make his first acquisition. Though he ate tuna out of the can for weeks to make his first payroll, his temporary hardships paid off and led to a career full of successful entrepreneurial ventures.
In 1993, Scott W. Hartman founded Advantage Business Brokers. His previous experience as the CEO and President of Nucor World Industries, a privately held investment firm that specialized in acquiring and operating small businesses, gave him the knowledge and skills needed to run his company successfully.
Since it’s founding, Scott and Advantage have been representing the interests of sellers of companies of all sizes. The company offers sell-side representation to companies of all sizes, offers strategic and operational consulting and helps companies raise growth capital (debt and equity). Scott has also helped to establish two private equity firms that, to date, have raised over $500 million in growth capital.
In his free time, Scott is a dedicated philanthropist who participates in a variety of charitable endeavors. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the American Diabetes Association and is an Advisory Board Member of the Dallas Cowboy Club. However, the cause closest to his heart is that of the World War II Salute Organization where he serves as Chairman of New York.
The nonprofit seeks to convince the government to provide a state funeral for the last Medal of Honor recipient of WWII. Scott W. Hartman’s father and grandfather were soldiers, and he believes that a state funeral will help to honor not only the last living WWII Medal of Honor recipient but everyone who has sacrificed for their country.
